Cresco Theatre Projector and Restoration project

The Cresco Opera House / Cresco Theatre was built in 1914. This building has been on the National Register of Historical Places since 1982. The projector, a vintage 1953, runs 35mm film. In the future we will not be able to run 35mm film because movies will be available in the digital and 3D format only. In addition, our platter system projector has motors that are not replaceable and are not working to the best of their ability with parts that are no longer available.

As part of our project, the sidewalk located in from of the historic Cresco Opera House needs to be replaced. To raise money for our projector and sidewalk needs we will be selling stars and blocks for 'The Yellow Brick Road' Walk of Fame.

This is your chance to help keep the movie theatre in Cresco open and be a part of the Walk of Fame in northeast Iowa!
