This historic hotel known as the Burke Hotel and Jennison Inn was built in 1902 following the great fire of Riceville and was known as one of the most magnificent hotel structures between Minneapolis and Dubuque.
The lobby contains all of its unique original features, the original clerk’s desk complete with innkeeper’s bell, hand-cut blue and tan terrazzo floor, gold embossed tin ceiling, oak buffet and oak wainscot.
In addition to the lobby, which is available for rent for special events, several bedrooms on the second floor have been restored and are also available for rent. A private entrance at the back of the hotel leads upstairs to a private hallway to the bedroom area, which includes four bedrooms, two bathrooms and an apartment-type suite. The bedrooms are available for travelers staying a few nights, while the suite can be rented to someone who’s in town for a bit longer, maybe a couple of weeks or a month, based on their needs.
