The Cresco Area Fine Arts Council is focused on promoting artists as well as providing opportunities for people of all ages to explore the artistic creativity we all possess. This is a community that has supported the Fine Arts for many years and has a reputation for being one of the longest running, continuous art shows in Iowa.

  • Music and activities delight young and old alike with guest musicians performing throughout the day.
  • Children’s activities, artist demonstrations, wine tasting, local high school artists display artwork.
  • Local foods available; brats, hamburgers, chips, coffee, pop, and water. Yum!
  • Sign up for our ‘Creative Cash’ drawing and use the money towards an art purchase of your choice. Must be present to win.
  • Stop in at the Cresco Chamber Flight Breakfast at Ellen Church Field south on Hwy 9 West in Cresco from 7:30am-Noon for omelets and pancakes before attending the Fine Art Show in Beadle Park, north on Hwy 9 from 9:30am-3:30pm.

Application Info

Awards

  • This is a juried show with monetary awards: $500 (Best of Show), $400 (First Place), $300 (Second Place), $200 (Third Place), $100 (Honorable Mention). “Creative Cash” drawings will be held, offering incentives to buyers.

Guidelines

  • Cresco Fine Arts Show open to all artists 18 years of age and older.
  • All exhibited work must be original in concept and created by applicant. No work made from commercial kits, molds, patterns, plans, stencils, or prefabricated work will be accepted.
  • Prior to the show, each display will be screened by the Fine Arts Council. Exhibited work should not differ from photos or slides submitted.
  • Booth spaces are non-transferrable. Artists who have not been juried into the Arts Show or who has not paid fees will not be allowed to exhibit. Artists are responsible for creating an attractive booth within 10’x10’ booth space.
  • Artists must be on site to manage their displays during the show. Any artist unable to attend must notify the council prior to the show.
  • All sales will be conducted between artist and purchaser. Artists are responsible for obtaining a State of Iowa sales tax permit: Iowa Dept of Revenue and Finance / Taxpayer Service section, PO Box 10457, Des Moines, IA 50306-0471, 800.367.3388, or online at https://tax.iowa.gov

Application Process

  • Fill out application below, enclose applicable fees, provide a self-addressed stamped business-sized envelope, enclose several photographs, slides, or digital images representative of the work you intend to exhibit. Include your name, medium, and approximate dimensions of your work. The Cresco Fine Arts Council reserves the right to use all photographs/slides/digital images for art show publicity.
  • Applications must be postmarked no later than June 16, 2023.

Art Show Timeline

  • June 13th entry deadline, June 21st notification letters mailed, 63rd Annual Cresco Fine Arts Show August 4th, set up on event day 7:30am-9:30am, Show 9:30am-3:30pm, Take down 3:30pm.
